Theater students at Jordan High School on Friday will perform and direct a musical showcase that pays tribute to the past two decades of the school’s theater department.
“Student technicians will be designing the lights, sound, and MCing the event,” said Olivia Bellido, Jordan’s theater and technical theater teacher. “We are inviting alumni from all 20 years that I have been at Jordan and inviting some of them to speak.”
It’s an annual event that helps preserve the history and traditions of the program.
“We hope for alumni to attend the show to see how the program has grown since they have been gone, and enjoy hearing music from their time here sung by the next generation,” Bellido said.
The program starts at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is free, although a $10 donation is suggested.
The event is well timed, coming as it does on the heels of the announcement that Jordan’s assistant principal, Sara Huckbody, received the Administrator Award from the Education Theatre Association (EdTA), a professional association for theater educators.
