Durham City Offices Adjust Hours for Good Friday

Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency facilities, will be closed to the public on Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday.

Here’s what South Durham residents need to know:


🗑 Solid Waste Management

  • Closed Friday, April 18: The Solid Waste Management Department, Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste Center.
  • Curbside collection: Trash and recycling will follow a normal schedule Monday through Thursday. Friday yard waste customers will have their collection delayed until Monday, April 21.
  • Stay updated: Sign up for collection alerts on the City’s website, or download the Durham Rollout app.

🏞 Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR)

  • Closures: DPR’s administrative office and all indoor facilities, including pools, will be closed on Friday, April 18, and Sunday, April 20, except for sites with rentals.
  • Open for rentals: Athletic fields and picnic shelters remain available.
  • Lakes open: Lake Michie and Little River Lake will operate under regular hours, April 18–21, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

🅿 Downtown Parking

  • Park Durham Customer Service Center: Closed Friday, April 18.
  • Free parking: On holidays, parking is free in most on-street spaces, City-owned surface lots, and some City garages.
  • Special events: For events where the $7 rate applies in three downtown garages, check the Special Event Parking Calendar.

🚌 GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS

  • Regular service will operate on Friday, April 18.
  • For updates, call 919-485-RIDE (7433), use the Transit App, or follow @GoDurhamTransit on X.

☎ Durham One Call

  • Closed Friday, April 18
  • Submit service requests in the meantime:
    • Online form.
    • Durham One Call app (iOS/Android).
