Hey. You. Do you live in South Durham? Can you gather information? Can you put it into words to share with neighbors?
Well, thanks to the generous funding from LION Publishers, I’ve got a budget for a few freelance writers. What I’m looking for:
- High-priority: Data/clerical assistance. It takes several hours each week for me to put together obituaries, birth reports, marriage applications, and other data-heavy items. You earn: $75 per article published.
- Medium-priority: Features about evergreen topics. What do you want to know about South Durham? Are you willing to go digging to find out more about it and then write 800-1,000 words? Pitch me some ideas (or reach out and ask what’s on my to-do list) at southpointaccessnews@gmail.com. You earn: $250 per article published.
- Lower-priority (but not zero!): Durham live government meeting or daily features (library events, school activities, etc.) coverage. Generally, no more than 500 words. You earn: $75 per article published.
