Durham City Council Approves Brickworks Rezoning

The Durham City Council unanimously approved the zoning map change for the massive Brickworks project during Tuesday’s meeting, advancing a transformative development on 95.48 acres formerly designated for light industrial use. Proposed by Charlotte-based SpaceCraft, the project will feature 1,880 residential units, including apartments and townhouses, alongside mixed-use commercial space. The decision follows a 9-1 recommendation from the Durham Planning Commission and drew praise from council members, including Mayor Pro Tempore Mark-Anthony Middleton, who said: “I think the Planning Commission got this one right.”
