Neighborhoods in Hope Valley Farms along South Roxboro Street lost power early Friday, leaving hundreds of Duke Energy Carolinas customers without electricity.
Among those affected: students at Murray-Massenburg Elementary School, which released at 9:45 a.m. “due to an underground cable issue that created a power outage,” according to Durham Public Schools spokesperson Crystal Kimpson Roberts.
By 1:36 p.m., it was estimated that power would be restored by 3:30 p.m.
