Hope Valley Elementary School families are voicing concerns over the new “no-bus” zones, which require some students to walk to school in the winter. To support these students, the HVE PTA organized a drive to collect winter gear, including hats, coats, gloves, and rain ponchos. The community responded quickly, with significant contributions from nearby residents and Epworth United Methodist Church. PTA President Jocelyn Dawson shared that, for now, the school has sufficient clothing donations and is focused on addressing ongoing challenges like pedestrian safety and childcare needs.
The PTA thanked everyone who contributed to the drive and promised to keep the community updated on future opportunities to help. Stay informed about South Durham happenings with our SoDu We Like Local News? newsletter!
