Crayons2Calculators Joins Durham Public Schools Foundation

Durham nonprofit Crayons2Calculators (C2C), which supports over 1,000 local teachers annually with free school supplies, is now officially part of the Durham Public Schools Foundation (DPSF). The merger, in development since spring 2024, aims to strengthen their collective impact, ensuring uninterrupted support for educators and students.

“We quickly saw that bringing Crayons2Calculators into our organization would deepen our collective impact across Durham,” said Erika Wilkins, DPSF executive director. Each year, C2C distributes over $100,000 in supplies to help ease the burden on teachers, who spend an average of $263 out of pocket for classroom essentials.

The program will retain its name, location, and dedicated staff while benefiting from expanded resources and support under DPSF. “Having these organizations come together only makes sense,” said Amanda Bass, an ESL teacher at Burton Elementary.
