Software Glitch Delays Durham Afterschool Lottery Results

Been waiting for word about whether your elementary school student made it into a Durham Public Schools afterschool program for next academic year?

Well, keep waiting.

The school district on Friday shared a letter from SchoolMint, which manages Durham’s lottery results, explaining that it could take as long as 10 days to resolve the issue.

“We understand how important this information is to families and school communities, and we regret any inconvenience or concern this delay may have caused,” wrote Meggin Whitmore, SchoolMint’s vice president of technical support and enterprise customer success. “This delay is caused by a system issue, and as a result, we made the difficult decision to postpone the release to ensure all data is correct and complete.”

It’s not clear what happened to cause the problem on the SchoolMint platform, which also is used for the school district’s magnet lottery.
