Texas Roadhouse has applied for a site plan that would allow the restaurant chain to demolish the old, defunct Applebee’s location on McFarland Drive in Patterson Place and build a new steak restaurant – the second in Durham.
According to Durham zoning data, the application was filed on Aug. 21 and is now under review.
The Applebee’s location shuttered in 2023 after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it appears that it’ll be replaced by Kentucky-based Texas Roadhouse, which opened its first restaurant in Indiana in 1993 and now has 600 locations in 49 states (including a few actually in Texas). The original Durham location, still open, is on North Pointe Drive.
