In the SoDu Shopping Basket, we take a look at grocery prices at some of our stores in the South Durham area.

Data is gathered using online shopping tools (specifically, apps for each store). Based on data for Aug. 15, 2025, Target appeared to have the lowest total basket cost at $55.50, followed by Walmart at $56.31 and Wegman’s at $56.47. The average basket cost in South Durham for this week: $67.56, down from last week.

NOTE: Prices for some stores are based on loyalty programs.
