Starting next week, Parktown Food Hub organizers want supporters to work on a “reverse Advent calendar” for their Christmas in July food drive.
For the unfamiliar: An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count down the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Each day is marked by a small compartment or window that can be opened to reveal a treat, message, or image. For this drive, the tables turn.
Each day, starting after the July 4 holiday, you’re supposed to put one item into a box or bag. In August, after the bag is full of requested items, deliver it to the Parktown Food Hub at 5123 Revere Rd. in Parkwood.
What are the items needed for each day?
- July 8: Spice or seasoning
- July 9: Canned green beans
- July 10: Canned tomatoes
