Matching Donor Steps Up for Parktown Food Hub

An anonymous donor is matching donations to the Parktown Food Hub – dollar for dollar, up to $1,000 – until July 1.

“This incredible act of generosity will help put food on the tables of families in need,” said Lisa Greene, a member of the South Durham nonprofit organization’s board of directors. “We are beyond grateful for this matching donation, which will inspire others to give and double the impact of every contribution next month. Thanks to volunteers and donors like this, more people in our community will have access to nourishing meals.”

The Parktown Food Hub is accepting donations at this link, but new subscribers and advertisers of Southpoint Access also help out – 20% of that revenue is earmarked for the food hub until July 31.

The organization opened in July 2019, but announced earlier this year that the food hub needed to raise $150,000 by the end of this year or it would face closure.

“Since being more open about our financial need, the community has stepped up for us in many ways,” Greene said. “We still have a long way to go. We’re not out of the woods yet. This matching donation gives me hope.”
