Two SoDu Townhouse Rezonings Approved by Planning Commission

The Durham Planning Commission on Tuesday approved planned development residential zoning for two properties in the South Durham area.

The first, Methodist Street townhouses, could add as many as 18 units. It didn’t draw any opposition at neighborhood meetings or on the Durham Rezoning Explorer.

The second, on about an acre covering 1606 and 1608 E. Cornwallis Rd., would bring as many as 10 townhouse units, along with a bus pullout and shelter. This project didn’t have any opposition.

Planning commissioners voted unanimously, 10-0, to move both projects forward to the Durham City Council for consideration.
